Content and physical description
ContentAn employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs encloses the minutes of a meeting held on 9 December 1959 to discuss the estate of Bohuslav Martinů. The minutes recommend that the Embassy in Bern should try to contact Charlotte Martinů and increase her interest in the Czechoslovakia. ChM is certainly under the influence of Swiss friends. Material assistance to ChM with the construction of a house in Pierrefonds can be addressed in the estate proceedings. ChM has not yet received the package with the gifts from [Vaclav] Kopecký and the things she bought during her stay in CSR. The Ministry of Education and Culture will invite ChM to the 1960 Strážnice Festival in due course. The MŠK and the Composers' Union will find out about the possibility of presenting MIRANDOLINA in the Czechoslovakia and find out the situation regarding the BM Music School and Museum in Polička. The Union of Czechoslovak Composers is to take a position on the idea of publishing unpublished BM works in the Czechoslovakia. Additional information on the stay of BM in the Czechoslovakia will be given by [Vojtěch] Strnad. There will be another meeting in mid-January to discuss the findings. On 12.12. Miloš Šafránek, biographer and friend of BM, came to the clerk and presented a letter from ChM from the beginning of December, where ChM writes that in January 1960 he wants to definitely move to France, but he does not know where yet, he does not have a plot of land and is waiting for help from V. Kopecký. ChM is waiting for the Sachers to help her with the estate proceedings. She has not yet received any donations from CSR. M. Šafránek expressed concern that things might fall into foreign hands when they are moved to France, such as the 2 scores in the possession of Willy Reber, who is one of the enemies of the CSR, and will certainly, with [Paul] Sacher, put pressure on ChM to the detriment of the CSR. MS would be willing to go to Switzerland on ChM's behalf. The clerk referred MS to the MSK or the Union of Czechoslovak Composers about this matter.
