Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů comments on a work of art. He does not like it when detailed microscopic analysis is inserted into the artistic process. In his opinion, it is not important to deal with every small molecule of the composition. The composition must be alive in itself and not for its analysis. He does not think it is necessary for the public to go to laboratories for knowledge. There is no need for the public to be constantly explained in artificial phrases. There is no need to find justification in contemporary music and to worry that the works are not contemporary and modern enough. By tackling the notions of contemporary and modern, we are only complicating the creative process itself, which is already complicated and shrouded in mystery. BM understands that we live in difficult times, but that is why it is necessary to have free thoughts, strong convictions and artistic beliefs that define life and the compositions themselves. It is not important to solve problems of dissonance, tonality and polyrhythmia. All these aspects are secondary, for it is not important to seek novelty at any cost. Music is not a question of calculation. BM comes from Europe, where he encountered incredibly brutal and tragic experiences that only confirm his view of art.
