ContentCharlotte Martinů informs Karel Novák about the operation of Bohuslav Martinů. The letter in French will certainly be translated for him by Herberta [Masarykova]. The results of the operation are good, BM no longer has a fever, is beginning to eat and can sit up. In Nice, BM complained of stomach pain, so he had to go to a doctor who, after an X-ray, concluded that an operation would be necessary. So they quickly returned to Basel, where there is a well-known surgeon who took good care of BM. Mr and Mrs Sacher have also been very helpful. BM should be back home by the end of the month. They have also written to Marience [Marie Martinu] who will certainly have many worries but must thank God that her recovery is on the right track. Needless to say, BM would be happy to receive a few lines from KN. He is beginning to have a long moment and would like to return home. He hopes that KN is well, as well as HM and Mama Anička [Masaryk].
