Content and physical description
ContentJindřich Honzl thanks you for the parcel and the letter of 26 March 1946. There were artists in the Protectorate who could assert themselves and who could believe that they were making great or perfect art even in times of oppression - but JH constantly reminds these people that this was at the expense of the happiness and joy of everyone else; this is also the case with Talich. He wrote to him in the days when he played Smetana at the National so that it gave rise to national demonstrations. He wanted to encourage him in this journey, yet even any letters did not balance Talich's respect and fear of the Germans. But it was all about Bohuslav Martinů - JH would have wanted to win him for the nation. JH hopes to find collaborators among musicians and critics, and he hopes to learn from Šebánek. JH does not know about the subject of opera - above all, he does not know what BM calls opera in the current artistic situation.
