Content and physical description
ContentYesterday Vítězslava Kaprálová sent her parents a sketch for the song cycle Zpíváno do dálky, Op. 22 on texts by [Viktor] Kripner. Elegie was performed yesterday with success, but the VK is considering withdrawing it from the repertoire. A composer who studied with Manuello de Falla [Rosa García Ascot?] sat next to her and wondered why VK didn't want to know about Elegy. A letter from America came to VK with various recommendations, including that only as a scholarship holder could her stay be best arranged, otherwise it would be too risky. VK did not reach the Director of the American Foundation [?] today, but she is reported there tomorrow. Ruda Firkušný is in Paris again and apologised to her for the April Preludes [which VK dedicated to him and which he has not yet played] - they are too influenced by Bohuslav Martinů, too emotional, too feminine, etc., according to him. Although he is to play them at his next concert, VK is still considering cancelling the dedication. VK describes his circle of friends and how he learns to shoot at the fair at the Invalides. BM has received a telegram to come [to CSR] that his mother is dying. He cannot, however, because he does not know if he could get back [to France]. VK sends greetings from Vera Uhlirova and BM.
