Content and physical description
ContentLetter to Carl Wickerhauser. An exciting event will take place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on October 4, 1956, under the auspices of the Fromm Music Foundation. The Symphony of the Air will perform under the baton of Leopold Stokowski, with Rudolf Firkušný as soloist. The program will include world premieres of Bohuslav Martinů's "Incantation" Piano Concerto No. 4 (commissioned by the FMF), Bernard Heiden's Memorial for Orchestra (commissioned by the FMF), Robert Help's Adagio for Orchestra (FMF Award), and the first New York performance of Leon Kirchner's Toccata for Winds, Strings and Percussion (FMF Award). Paul Fromm imagines that The Voice of America will want to record the concert for European broadcast. Concert programs should be printed by September 6. If CW decides to record the concert, he asks for a reference in the program - "The concert is being recorded by The Voice of America for European broadcast"
