| Content | After a long time, Josef Páleníček writes to Bohuslav Martinů and recalls their studies together in Paris and the subsequent period when their paths were already diverging through Martinů's emigration. JP, however, remains faithful to his work, which he performed in Russia, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Palestine and Belgium. Although he did not have the opportunity to study directly with BM, as did, for example, Vítězslava Kapralová, he nevertheless learned much from his work and still feels a strong connection to him. This also leads him to question BM's return to Czechoslovakia. He emphasizes the responsibility BM has to the nation and expresses concern about BM's will to return. While taking into account BM's poor health after his injury, there is also speculation that BM does not trust the developments in Czechoslovakia and that perhaps he fears for his creative freedom.
