| Content | Vítězslava Kaprálová thanked for the valuable information contained in the letter, especially regarding the Juilliard School. On the recommendation of Professor Hromádka, VK contacted the director of [illegible name] American College at the Cité universitaire [probably Cité internationale universitaire de Paris], from whom she obtained a prospectus for scholarship applications. Scholarships are decided by the Institute of International of Education. There is a great deal of interest in these scholarships, and VK encloses a list of officers to contact in this matter. American University Union Director Horatio Krans has written to VK with a draft application and a nice recommendation. He will send the recommendations of others to the VC at a later date. It will be written by [Sergei Aleksandrovich] Koussevitsky, [Alfred] Cortot, [?] Münch, Institut d'études slaves, [Bohuslav] Martinů and others. There will be many requests, the best will be direct intervention in America. The VC will appeal to the fact that she is a Czechoslovakian who has, for the time being, a closed access home. VK hereby also asks the addressee of the letter [Miloš Šafránek?] if he knows anyone who could also help her. President Edvard Beneš also promised to help her through Consul [Josef] Hanec. In the enclosure VK sends her biography and criticisms, she will add photographs later. She hopes that BM also has everything ready to send, she should send any messages to BM.
Handwritten note on the side of the sheet in VK's hand that he is not to send the report to the colony after agreement with BM, BM will remain in Paris. Should it be too late to request a scholarship from the Juilliard School, he asks to see if this would be possible from another institute. According to BM, [Léopold Victor] de Lacroix will also intervene. |
