Content and physical description
ContentHelen Kazantzakis began to read with interest Charlotte Martinů's book "My Life with Bohuslav Martinů". She reads slowly and thinks about all the beauties and pains mentioned. In the text she finds similarities with her own life. BM and Nikos Kazantzakis had a strong need to create all their lives. HK is now reading about the arrival of ChM and BM in America. She and the others were at that time taking refuge on the island of Aigina, which was plagued by famine.
HK was in Kyrenia [in Cyprus] where the Turks had also landed and spent three days in prison with the British group. The flat she bought last year as a retirement residence no longer exists. There are now 250,000 refugees there with no clothes and in an incomparably worse situation than hers. Fortunately, her mother and the 20-month-old baby who were with her are now in Athens.
HK wishes Charlotte good health. If he ever goes to France, he will try to meet her.
