Content and physical description
ContentJan Novák thanks Evžen Zámečník for Trojan's [Jan Trojan] book on Moravian songs, JN is very interested in this field and this book is very stimulating. He knows primitive harmonies and sometimes uses them, just like Bohuslav Martinů. He asks EZ to say hello to JT, he would send him his composition, but he doesn't know his address. JN sends EZ his Sonata super "Hoson Zes..."-an ancient Greek song carved in stone. His daughter Klara Novak will also play it on flute after some minor modifications. He also sends him the Sonata di chiesa II to give to an organist or to a leader of the party and government. This piece will hopefully see print in due course, JN complains about the slow work of the publishers. JN is now about to start composing the Aarhus Symphony. Sometimes he feels that he should retire as Sibelius did. But he still hopes that one day he will be able to write a good piece. At the end of the letter he informs us that KN is in Stuttgart and Dora Novak is happy with Firkušený in New York. He encourages EZ to write and give his regards to František [Kopecny]. He is glad that they got together.
