Content and physical description
ContentThere was a man who told Jan Novák that his concerto [for piano] was not worth much. JN had his first lesson with [Bohuslav] Martinů. JN decided to show him his piece, although he thought there was no need - enough people had seen it. But BM said it was spastic, schoolboyish and the piano not brilliant enough and it was too long. Ruda [Firkušný] probably won't play it. JN is considerably "confused". He won't change the concerto, he might as well throw it in the toilet. JN is curious how their relationship with BM will develop. JN acknowledges him even if they ever break up.
