Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů thanks Jan Novák for his letters. He is in Europe resting, but will not be able to see home, as he has been appointed professor at Princeton University and must be back this month. BM has seen several doctors and all is relatively well, though it will take some time to be perfect. BM is delighted with JN's compositional plans, the composer must not lose heart no matter what happens around him. Money comes with work, but that means experience, the results of which will emerge, though it's not exactly fun now. JN is to greet Esther [?] if he sees her. BM would have liked to see home, but he had so many errands to run that he could hardly find a few days in the mountains to recover his spirits and health. JN is to write again to New York. BM thanks JN for his letters and those of his girl [Eliza Novak].
