ContentIn the introduction, the writer [Jindřich Říha] mentions in the report a letter from Miloš Šafránek [KPR 1930-05-09], in which he asks for financial help for Bohuslav Martinů, Jan Zrzavý and Josef Šíma. The matter was also brought to the attention of Ambassador [Jan] Masaryk, who interceded on behalf of BM and asked for assistance from the President's funds. The following is a brief description of BM's life and work, accompanied by his financial situation. The writer also points out that BM has been in Paris for five years and that he could have suitable conditions for his work on home soil. Both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs supported BM during his stay in Paris, with contributions amounting to some CZK 75 000. BM also declined an offer of a professorship at the Brno Conservatoire, which would have meant permanent security for him. In order to objectively assess the granting of support, a report from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is requested. The same applies to the academic painters of JZ and JŠ. The following is a copy of a letter [MoS 1930-10-09] written to the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
