Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů tells Hubert Ripko that he sees the offer of a place at the Prague Conservatoire - perhaps as a reward from Prague - as both a great honour and a mistake. BM goes on to inform us of his position in the world, which he would have been able to exploit for us, especially by remaining abroad, and also of the results of his work and toil over many years. BM's remaining abroad, however, does not preclude his duty with us, in courses of three or four months in musical composition. BM's entire oeuvre was created in a different environment and conditions in which he did not lose himself. BM would therefore like to offer the connections he has made, especially to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czechoslovak Republic. If a solution is not possible, BM will base his plans on a completely different basis. BM asks HR for its opinion and possible solutions.
