Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů replies to Karel Boleslav Jirák's letter from Switzerland, he is no longer in Rome. He will not give much information about the scholarship from the American Academy, BM was approached as composer in residence. Everything seems to be happening in New York, probably somehow related to the Guggenheim Foundation. [Mary] Williams will give Jirák more information. Students at the Academy work alone and one of their scores is performed at the end of the fellowship. The applicant must have good recommendations, but "there's not much to be found" in Rome. The Martins are back in Basel and will stay for a few months. They don't have an apartment in New York, so they don't want to go back. BM has been reading a lot about KBJ's organizational work. A trip to Czechoslovakia is in sight, they have news from home. They were in Paris and got the flu.
