Content and physical description
ContentGeraldine Mucha (1917) is a composer of Scottish [Orcadian] descent. She won two compostition scholarships at the Royal Academy of Music, her teachers were Benjamin Dale, William Alwyn and Alan Bush. In 1941, she met and married Jiří Mucha who was, at that time, serving in the RAF as a BBC war correspondent. In the Autumn of 1945 she settled with her husband in Prague. Her compositions consist of music for various chamber ensembels (i.e. two nonets, two sring quartets, wind quintet, string quintet and oboe "In memoriam Jiří Mucha), orchestral music (i.e. two ballets, piano concerto, overture to Shakespear's The Tempest), vocal and piano music.
