Content and physical description
ContentRudolf Firkušný responds to the letter of 29 July 1960. His agreement with Bohuslav Martinů concerning the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 4 had expired some time ago. During its duration, RF fulfilled its conditions. After its termination, by agreement with the Fromm Music Foundation, he retained the score and performance material for his own performance of the work. He always asked orchestras and organizations to send BM money for rental material. This was particularly the case with the BBC in London and the ABC in Sydney. Martinů himself then handed over a share of his net profits on several occasions. He wonders what to do with the material still in his possession. Should he hand it over to the addressee or to the Fromm Music Foundation? At present he is planning only one performance of the work - on 24 November [1960] in Paris. Regarding the Martinů account, they are to contact Charlotte Martinů directly. He himself never collected royalties for BM.
