Content and physical description
ContentMartha Graham very much regrets that she was unable to attend the performance of Elisabeth Sprague-Coolidge's works; she had insistent appointments.
The news from the theatre is excellent. However, she herself is just beginning an intensive class that will run throughout June. Still, she will do her best to make her collaboration the best it can be.
Still, as a dancer, she sees Benjamin Britten as closer to her than Bohuslav Martinů. She likes BM's music very much, there is a lot of power and beauty in it. Here, however, she fears a 'rhapsodic quality', it is virtually impossible to feel it in dance. She is sure that Arthur Tillman Merritt will understand her. She writes only now because she wanted to exhaust all possibilities of approaching it first.
She is still very interested in the progress of the Symposium and is very honoured to be taking part in it, wishing to be kept informed of the progress of the preparations.
She thanks ATM for all their efforts, and enjoyed the evening, which featured two of Merritt's students.
