Content and physical description
ContentRobert Vannoy thanks Miloš Šafránek for the recordings of Förster and Novák, which he liked very much. On Šafránek's recommendation he read his book on B. Martinů and praises it highly. He wishes much success in working on the MŠ book on theatre in the works of BM. RV has not yet received a reply to the letter he sent to Charlotte Martinů. RV praises Czech contemporary composers because they can communicate something along already beaten paths, whereas American composers cannot write a melody (names Bernstein, Copland, Nadia Boulanger). There are only a few composers worth mentioning in Europe (Messiaen, Boulez, Britten, Henze), but there are infinitely more in Czechoslovakia because of its educational system.
