ContentJos Vranken received an address by Rafael Kubelík to Bohuslav Martinů. JV is the conductor of the male choirs Haghe Sanghers and Venlona, with whom he has performed the Field Mass several times, which is very popular with his singers. They are not professional singers, but just men with good voices and good hearing. JV is thankful for the fine lessons BM has given him and four hundred other men through his composition. He also asks if BM has any other compositions for a male chorus a cappella or with instruments, as his singers often ask if they will sing a second "Soldiers Requiem" as they called this piece in their program. JV asks for any sheet music to be photographed and sent back if necessary. Finally, he adds his address and the date of the choir's performance with the Field Mass at the Mainz Festival (July 30). In December they will sing it for the second time for Dutch Radio.
