Content and physical description
ContentSchott is sorry for not being able to publish the PARABLES by the end of November. They regret the misunderstanding, yet they did not know that it is necessary to publish the parts by the time the work is scheduled to be performed in the USA [premiere: 13 March 1959]. Bohuslav Martinů wrote that, if need be, Charles Munch can conduct from a copy of the autograph and that he only needs the parts available for the summer season. What’s more, the production has been delayed owing to the necessity to resolve the issue of the title and the marking of the movements. They will send a more detailed explanation in the next letter. They are sending the score back to Paul Sacher’s address. They have made a copy of the score for possible production of the materials. If necessary, they can provide this copy to BM and PS. If the premiere in Boston is postponed, BM should inform them about it – they will produce the material within four weeks.
