ContentThis letter confirms the agreement between Martinů and the Cleveland Orchestra. Martinů will compose a piece [SKÁLA] for the Cleveland Orchestra, longer than ten minutes, making full use of the orchestra's capabilities. The score will be delivered by July 1, 1957, after which Martinů will be paid a fee of $2000.
Performance rights will be reserved to the Cleveland Orchestra until May 1958, recording rights until May 1959. Martinů's publisher will provide the material at no additional charge.
Martinů is to return a signed copy of this letter.
