Content and physical description
ContentArtur Rodzinsky responds to the letter of 5.7. He is against "lending" the orchestra to other conductors, because it has given him a lot of work to develop the excellent standard that the orchestra had in the past.
Coincidentally, AR was planning a Czech programme with the NY Philharmonic for the week around 25.10 (Janáček - Sinfonietta, Smetana - From My Life: orch. arrangement by G. Szell, Dvořák - Slavonic Dances). However, as he has no soloists, Schieffelin asks to be joined by [Jarmila] Novotna and [Rudolf] Firkušný. They would put together an interesting programme to celebrate 25 years since the founding of independent Czechoslovakia, which would be performed twice - on 28 and 29 October 1943.
The financial details must be arranged with the management.
