ContentMarie explains to Šafránek why she did not seek him out after the concert. She needs to talk to him, especially about Charlotte. People still don't believe BM wanted to come home, so she searched his letters for sentences of homesickness. Charlotte is convinced that BM wanted to be buried in Polička and agrees that she should be buried there too; Halbreich has spoken of this in a strange way. Marie has a newly established cottage and suggests that Saffron and Mrs. Anička's family stop there.
