Content and physical description
ContentCharlotte Martinů writes that they are happy to read news from her [Helena Pucová] and from Sasha [Pucová-Boucher]. If they are in Paris in April, then Charlotte will meet them; BM is recovering from an accident, and wishes Charlotte to represent him at the Prague Festival [probably Prague Spring, premiere of Symphony No. 5]; he himself does not yet feel up to such a long journey. "Ruda" is back from a big tour out west, he was in Los Angeles, had dinner with Jacques Thimbaut, and all the "French stars" were there. Tomorrow "Ruda" plays Janáček's Quartet, Monday he leaves again for Montréal, and on March 14 he will give a recital at Carnegie Hall. Charles Munch stayed with the Martins for two weeks; he was a tremendous success in New York, and the New Yorkers wanted to engage him for this year, but Munch has commitments in Europe. But he'll be back in New York next season after all. Charlotte hopes (she) will leave (for Europe) in the first half of April.
BM also credits Greetings, recovering from an injury, but will send Charlotte to Europe to represent him at the Prague festival "so they don't say we want to stay here for good."
