Content and physical description
ContentJosef Schieszl responds to Bohuslav Martinů's letter of 21 July 1935 [not preserved] and writes that they are currently sending a voucher to the Trade Bank to pay the entire remainder of the sum (contribution), i.e. CZK 3,500, to the Paris embassy, and to the Paris embassy to issue this sum to the BM. As for BM's return to Prague: after the death of Otakar Ostrčil (head of the National Theatre Opera), his position became vacant, and there are several candidates: from Prague Otakar Jeremias (but not Karel Jirák), from Brno Milan Sachs, from Ostrava Jaroslav Vogel. Some people like BM's candidacy, but many feel it is premature (they demand div. experience and therefore reject Jeremias). The question of filling the position at the conservatoire is not yet on the table. Schiezl thinks it can't be long before Martinů comes up for one place or another.
There was a festival of modern music in Prague, at the Social Club, of which Schieszl is the managing director.
