ContentBohuslav Martinů informs Paul and Maje Sacher that the plan to move to Cauterets has failed; in the end they [with Charlotte Martinů] find themselves in Aix-en-Provence. PS's letter had been delivered to them the previous day.
They hope to stay in Aix. BM will try to work and will decide on his further plans when he has news from his friends in the USA.
He is a little more relaxed as there is another consulate in Marseille where he is now at least being advised. So far the news about going to the US is not very encouraging. Perhaps the best solution would be South America, where BM could wait out the troubled times and work in peace.
He will write to Pavel Deutsch in Rio de Janeiro and to Mr. [Jan Antonin] Bata, the manufacturer. Then he will let the addressees know. They [ChM] intend to stay in Aix for at least two months so that they can put the correspondence in order and try to find the writer's manuscripts.
BM asks about Morgan's bank. He did not receive the money on 1/7, perhaps the bank stayed in Paris and could send him the amount.
He has not received letters addressed to Nevers and probably will not receive them, the Siamec factory is probably abandoned.
BM informs of acquaintances of whom he has some news - Monique Haas and Pierre Fournier are in Rennes, Marcel Mihalovici in Lozère, Rudolf Firkušný in Marseilles, Henri Martelli in Toulouse; he knows nothing of Tibor Harsányi.
Thanks for his help. They are cut off from the world, hopefully things will improve now.
