Content and physical description
ContentHe hopes that VK has recovered from her illness and that they will meet soon. His mood fluctuates between hope and despair. He recommends that she have her scholarship officially confirmed by the Ministry in Prague. He is working hard on a composition for Samuel Dushkin [Concertante Suite]. He regrets that she is coming to Paris already engaged. He inquires about her accommodations in Paris and her plans in composition. Friday: Finishes the suite and plans to celebrate this and the end of the year with [Samuel] Dushkin. The piece contains 5 pieces and has yet to be instrumented, including a violin solo. Inquiry for special wishes for the new year. Can't wait for her arrival. At the end of the letter, dated Saturday 31 December 1938, he announces the receipt of a telegram from Dushkin and the receipt of a letter from Standa [Novak], which did not please him much in its content.
