He sends her a little present. He doesn't know what to advise her about a gramophone, they've switched to long-playing records in the US and they're probably not yet widely available in Europe - maybe she could wait a bit longer. She asks for details about buying a fur coat, if she really wants one, should she buy one. He can't send her the money right now.
