ContentIt is Martinů's contribution to the survey of the "Wallachia" anthology about Janáček and the importance of national songs. In addition to his reflections on the topics, he points out the unavailability of some publications and collections of songs, evaluates Janáček's essay published in the introduction to Bartoš's collection of songs, and gives some ideas for an analysis of national songs and their origins or the interplay between liturgical and folk songs. He also points out the problematic nature of the notation and harmonization of many (Moravian) songs.
