Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů writes to Charlotte Martinů from New York after returning from Fire Island, where he was resting. He mentions that he does not feel like writing and is lazy, which he attributes to the spring weather. He has received a letter from Marie [Martinů], who complains about the bad food [at the Žamberk sanatorium] and mentions that she will return at the end of the month. MM wrote that [Miloš] Šafránek was in Polička and the presence of the President [Edvard Beneš] was a significant experience for the audience. František [Martinů] is also in Polička. BM is considering a trip to the mountains with [Frank] Rybka.
BM is considering the possibility of staying in the US over the winter and returning next spring, as air travel in the fall would not be pleasant. They could stay at Zbiroh when they return. [Antonin] Svoboda said it is beautiful there, they could have it as a weekend retreat. He described feeling better after resting by the sea and planned to rest in the mountains. He sent a package to Anna Masaryk in Prague.
