Content and physical description
ContentVladimír Vaněk has been thinking about Charlotte Martinů a lot lately. He is currently reading a book by Miloš Šafránek, so Bohuslav Martinů is always on his mind. VV was invited to New York to give a lecture on BM. He can't go, but he still has to write the lecture and send it there. There will be a big commemorative event on BM at NYU in the fall, attended by all Czech intellectuals from the US, etc.
VV is reading a book by MŠ. MS is unsympathetic to the writer and VV must control himself from publicly expressing his disgust at MS's "friendly" treatment of Bohuslav Martinů. What does ChM think of MS and his book? MS quotes not only the composer's letters (which he also edits) but also his statements, which is completely uncontrollable and BM cannot defend himself.
Was ChM in Prague for the ["Mai musicale"]? There was a beautiful programme. BM's work was performed by the Russians. Did ChM meet Jan Zrzavi or Václav Hanno Jarka? JZ is now "recognized" again, exhibiting at the Biennale di Venezia.
VV wants to go to Paris as soon as he can. He would like to drop by ChM in Vieux-Moulin on that occasion. When will ChM be there? Does he have all the archives of Bohuslav Martinů there now?
VV will be in Castiglione until 15 September.
