Content and physical description
ContentRudolf Nissim writes that Bohuslav Martinů's membership in ASCAP has been confirmed since their last correspondence. He adds that BM was elected to membership as early as 1944, but the Czech-Slovak Society released him only recently, effective as of January 1st, 1953.
RN points out that ASCAP cannot claim any fees from Martinů's works performed before January 1st, 1953. However, if Ernest Roth or Leslie Boosey manages to persuade the PRS’s “backstage” to remit to ASAP any fees from previous performances, they would be only happy. Otherwise, they would probably be completely lost.
