Content and physical description
ContentBohuslav Martinů has learned from Miss K[aprálová] that Pavel Deutsch did not receive his two letters. He therefore thanks him again for the package and for the Christmas gift for him, as well as for his brother. On January 24 Germaine Laroux will play the CONCERTO FOR PIANO AND ORCHESTRA NO. 2 at Carnegie Hall. They have asked BM for „that mass“ [FIELD MASS], but he has to make himself another copy, since he doesn’t know if the one he sent to Prague arrived – he has no news from there. BM went to see Mrs. Bojková, but so far she hasn’t managed to find him any flat. BM is also waiting for a reply from friends in the U.S., who left behind an empty flat in Paris. Bad news from Prague – BM is forbidden to work and Dr. Štěpán must go for another operation. The legation paid no attention to the performance in Basel [premiere of the DOUBLE CONCERTO February 9, 1940?], but BM at least has the news published in a Czech paper in Paris. Charlotte Martinů enjoys fond memories and both look forward to their reunion. PD should write them some news of himself and be on the lookout for the magazine Dissonance and eventually other reviews.
